Q What is Basic level?
A Verify your phone number and email address and get an external character reference from an employer, landlord, character or someone you have house and pet sat for in the past.
Standard Level FAQs
Q What is Standard level?
A Use our free service to get a free identification and an I.D. document check.
Q What forms of ID can I use?
A Passport, driving licence or a National Identity Card can be used. You will also need to verify your residential address (where your bank details are registered to), full name, date of birth and national insurance number, if applicable.
Q How do I submit a document for checking at Standard level?
A We recommend that you do the following:
- Place the I.D. document on a flat, neutral surface and take a high resolution photo using your smartphone or camera or take a scan, ensuring the text is clear and readable
- Make sure all 4 corners of the document are included in the photo and avoid anything that can obscure the document such as a shadow, reflections or fingers
- The MRZ line containing ˂˂˂˂5555˂˂˂˂example˃˃˃˃˃˃777˃˃˃ is particularly important, so this should not be cut off
Q What is a Street Level check?
A If you pass your Standard level document check but return a fail against your address details, a Street Level check will be undertaken by our partner to verify your physical address. An email will be sent to you to confirm this. You will receive a letter in the post with a code to enter online within 7 days, sent to the address when you applied for the ID check.
Enhanced Level FAQs
Q What is Enhanced level?
A This is the highest level of verification. We’ve teamed up with the world's leading identity and document verification provider to become the only house and pet sitting website to offer you a full and certified criminal background check. This criminal background check will look at convictions within the last 5 years.
Q Can my self-certified police check form part of my Enhanced level of verification?
Only the criminal background check through our approved partner can form part of your Enhanced level of verification. We are phasing out self-certified police checks, but if you already have a police check you can continue to use this until a year after the date of issue. Simply add the issue date in the box provided and confirm that you can produce the document upon request.
Q How long is the certified criminal background check valid for?
A Your criminal background check does not have an expiry date, but it is an industry standard to renew it annually. The date of issue can be found on your profile once complete and we’ll get in touch with you to let you know when a year has passed.
Q How will I know when I have achieved each level of verification?
A You will receive an email to confirm that you have received each level and a trust badge will display on your profile. If any of your checks are unsuccessful at Standard or Enhanced level, you will receive an email to confirm this and what to do next.
Q My Enhanced level criminal background check has returned a ‘fail’. What does that mean?
A There are a number of reasons why you may be delivered a fail verdict on your criminal background check, which is outside of TrustedHousesitters control. To understand more, please contact our verification company directly via their Contact Form, which will be sent to you. TrustedHousesitters is unable to provide further detail as all checks are carried out independently of us.
