Should you require a sitter with a certain set of skills or previous experience you can stipulate this on your listing. Complete all the sections of your listing in detail and outline the qualities your ideal sitter will posses.
Our community of trusted house sitters come from a variety of professional backgrounds and have varied hobbies and interests, many also relish the opportunity to try something new so don’t discount those who at first glance don’t appear to fit the bill.
Keep in mind that most sitters will be expecting to take on a basic level of property and pet care, however the experience must be a win-win for both parties and your chosen sitter must be comfortable with the level of responsibility you are handing over to them. The longer the term of the house sit the more involved the sitter can expect to be in the upkeep of your home, however it is unrealistic to expect to find a sitter with an interest in DIY to come in and renovate your home whilst you are away!
We recommend that owners with specific requirements always follow up on references and reviews relating to the sitter’s experience level, that they uphold the values set out in our community pledge, and ensure that the foundation of their owner/sitter relationship is built on trust and mutual respect.
