Sitters are responsible for monitoring and maintaining the welfare of the pet during a sit. This means that if a pet becomes ill or injured, sitters must make sure relevant care or treatment is provided.

As pet parents remain financially responsible for their pet during the sit, they are to ensure that there are adequate provisions in place for veterinary care. Sitters should always contact the pet parent as soon as possible, but pet parents should also permit sitters to obtain veterinary care if they cannot be reached in an emergency.

All costs incurred by the sitter for veterinary care must be reimbursed by the pet parent, within 14 days of the sit ending. It's also important that they make sitters aware of any pre-existing or on-going medical conditions that their pet has, ahead of the sit.
