When members talk about a sit handover, they're referring to a dedicated period of time both before the sit starts and after it ends when the sitter and pet parent can run through the details of the sit.
Pre-sit handovers usually include a tour of the home and an introduction to the pets, if they’ve not met their sitter yet. For simpler sits, handovers may only need to be an hour before the pet parents departure. In other cases, members may want to spend a whole day together — it’s up to both members to decide. If it is agreed by both members, then this could even include an overnight stay before the sit starts.
After the sit has finished, we always recommend a second handover where members can catch up, sitters can share details of their stay and tell the pet parents all about the fun they've had with their pets.
Trusted tip: We recommend every sit begins and ends with a handover and that pet parents factor this into their listing. For example, if you would like a one-day handover and plan to depart on the 3rd of the month, be sure to write this in your listing and also set the start date for the sit to the 2nd of the month.
